Notes: Chinese herb, used to remove obstructions in the throat. Flowers mixed with Alum can be used as fingernail paint.
Flowers; cooling, tonic, externally applied to burns and scalds. The flowers possess marked antibiotic activity against some pathogenic fungi and bacteria. Plant is used for pains in joints. Taken internally, it acts as an emetic, diuretic and laxative. In Ayurveda, it is known as a demulcent (soothes irritation) and a tonic.
